I have been wanting to do something new for a year or so now. I built my box about 2 1/2 years ago and have been happy with it exept for the poor cover job I did on it.

The big thing I have wanted to do is move the speakers from my door panels behind me, since I have none back there. 3rd door S-10's don't have rear speakers, just 6 1/2" door speakers that are too low and the sound gets blocked by your legs.

So yesterday while driving home from Havasu I thought about some ways to make it work. Today, I took some measurements and took out my box. After a few small headaches with some cables not being long enough, I got it done. It sounds great. It gets a good full surround sound now. I guess you can call me a bit of an audiophile.

Here are some pics.

I love to design and build the box, I just hate wiring and pulling the interior apart. When I first built this box, I just set it in the truck and took it to my stereo shop and they hooked up the wiring for $100. I just wish they left some slack in the cables to the amps, as I found out today.

You got that right. With all the Desert and River trips I make with that truck, I need a good system to be happy anymore.

It's an extra-cab with a 1/2 door behind the driver door. Look at my pics and you can see it how it opens.

Thats pretty cool 450rider....looks like you did a good job on that stereo....I think this might be your calling but you should do all the work yourself to save the money. Good job.

I really only like doing the woodwork and thinking about and drawing up different designs. I drew up about 20 different designs before I finally settled on one that would work. I want to learn how to do fiberglass, I know I can do it. It's just a matter of having the project to use it.

fiberglass is actually easy and the best way to start learning is to use Styrofoam it works great you can shape it how you want it and layer over

Ill have to find some pics of my box, had a custom box built had part of the rear sub floor (behind rear seat)cut out to fit the box with a mounted BD 1000 amp (RF) everything fits behind the seat minus the component amp (Memphise) Memphise components 5 1/4 up front with Memphise coaxles6 1/4 in rear and 2 RF HX2 10" woofers. Alpine head unit three screens: 2 visor 7" monitors with a 17" flip down on the roof. Ill see if i can locate pics of everything involved. Here is an old pic of the monitors themselves..
