I have always wanted to launch the boat in Laughlin and run all the way down to Havasu Springs. Anyone ever done this run? Anything I should know before I decide to really do it?

Laughlin by the casinos? Only reason why I don't do that is because of the shallow areas.

We have made the trip from Havasu to Laughlin a few times. We found out that it is better to stop at Avi since up river by the casino's gets shallow and lot's of seadoo's on the weekends. Very nice trip and well worth the time, especially through the george.

I knew a guy who ripped out the drive on his Formula Powerboat in the shallows upriver from Needles.

Yeah we did the trip a few times years ago in my 22' Dana, you need to be very carefull from Laughlin at least Avi or Needles. it can get very shallow at some areas, once u get to needles its a breeze, unlees u have a jet, if so it should be no problem. It's a fun trip but it's gonna be a whole day event. make sure u time it right. Be safe & have fun.

We used to do it all the time with the Tunnels just haul but and bring the jack plate all the way up pray you see the shallows before they are under you. It is no problem in a 20 foot jet either. A good gauge we used to use was the sandbar on the california side of the river just above the needles bridge if it is showing you will get in some scary waters but if it is totally gone we were ok. Good Luck.

I boat there in the shallow needles area all the time, even in low water. That trip is possible, there is a path you have to take if you know it its still close but do-able. the best way is to run it in a sea-doo and try and memorize the shallow areas using land markers on the side of the river, but that means when you are driving the boat you must pay very close attention to where you are. Or you could just follow someone who knows, i would be happy to make that run and show you sometime, you could just follow me. It also depends on how much draft your boat has at WOT because thats the only way to boat that part of the river!

When I was a wee young lad in my parents old 19' 150 merc Kona outboard, we were cruising up by the damn when my mom made a turn to head down river. All of a sudden, CRASH!!! The motor hit a submerged rock and almost ripped off the transom. All caught on tape.
