I'm definitely going to be heading down to this event again. I wanted to see if we can start a head count and get a bunch of us going? Looks like its on June 5th this year. Nice and warm!

It is also Mrs. Pirate's Birthday weekend... and we will be having an '80's theme party at the bar... if anyone is still conscious enough to attend... As soon as I know more (about the party and the tube float)... I will post up.

Just make sure your float is large enough for an EZ-Up...

Heck yes i'm down and ready to float all day!!! It's going to an awesome time, especially if we can get a big float going. Everyone who had an EZ-UP last year didn't go very far because of all the wind. let's pray that this year, the wind stays away on the weekend of June 5th....

Any new and exciting ideas for a big float?? last year, i kinda created a train wreck. I think we'll bring the sea doo's out for towing just in case the wind kicks up again. By the way, does anyone have any big 55 gallon plastic water barrels laying around?? Like the ones that you store water in for horses and stuff... i'm thinking of a floating platform of some sort just in case you are wondering...these are light weight and float well (if the caps are still present...)

I'll be doin the float for sure. Hopefully 10-20 peeps will be rollin with me. We want to build a raft big enough for a canopy and a small ramp to hit on a bike. We will be bringing the seadoo for towing cause the wind was so bad last year we were in the water for 8 hours and still never made it to Bluewater.

~ June 5 ~ 33rd Annual Great Western Tube Float ~

~ Rockin’ the River Theme ~

Get a Tube and a lifejacket and float about 8 miles down the Colorado River to the blue Water Resort & Casino! Meet lots of different folks from all over and have a great time. Prizes for many different categories of “floaters”. Big beach party at Casino Beach area. Don’t forget waterproof sunscreen. This is a huge event. Last year, we had 1200 registered floaters.

This sounds awesome. How does it work? Do you park up river then float down to the Blue Water and hitch a ride back? Thanks in advance for the info! :D

It is fun as hell, Charlie... You could do it that way... you could also plan ahead, and drop off a car at the casino before hand... then float the the car area... BRING PLENTY OF WATER!! Here are a few pics from last year...

If you want to enter the "Race" or the "Best Float" you will need to enter (928-669-2174.). If you want to go out and float down river... have fun...

I got my 6 55gal barrels for our raft which is going to be 10x16. It should be sick. I know the float starts at Patria Flats Day Use Park on the AZ side but what is accross from the park on the CA side. I basically need to know how far down from Echo Lodge it is.

We are at Rio and the float basically starts from just above our park. you could bring your floats to the rock house launch ramp and go from there. only thing with that is you'd have to swim out a little ways. but that's your best bet i would say :)

sucks i'm not gonna be there other wise i'd say you should hang with us at Rio! have a great time though...the weather should be amazing :D

Wow, what a great tube float....and I am fried, must have been on the water for around 10 hours saturday. We started at the sandbar resort with a bunch of friends about a mile up river from the "official" start so that made for a very long day.

Met Riverpirate too on fri night, thanks for letting us leave our trucks there, and my friends had a great time at your campground
