I don't know how many of you were hanging out at pirate cove on Sunday, but we were almost struck by a 36' boat that was captained by some thugs. As we were leaving around 4:00 we made it just passed the I-40 when (8) 36 foot boats came flying down the river traveling four wide. One of the 8 boats came within 3 feet of hitting my buddies and I. They had to be traveling 80mph with no regard for life at all. They didn't stop and say sorry... nothing. At the the topock gorge we found a sheriff and notified them, but the just radioed down river as they were patrolling north bound. We don't know whatever became of that. When we got back to the Havasu landing launch, my buddy was greeted by the thugs again. We don't know if it was totally unrelated or if they were just out for us. As my buddy was walking by himself to go fetch the trailer, one of the thugs said, "oh look a cowboy hat". That's when they struck my buddy across the back of the head leaving him on the ground. My buddy is fine. But needless to say I will never return to havasu on a big weekend ever again. My buddies and I are mellow family guys. Did anyone else have an encounter with these losers?

I'm sorry to hear that. It's too bad thats its just a sad fact about holiday weekends at the river anymore. People really need to pull thier DGAF attitude out of thier asses and start thinking about how stupid they are being.

coming back from Pirates cove on Sat. we were almost nailed by some ******* in a blue and white deck boat. not sure what kind. he crossed from my left, right in front of me and right across another boat, almost hitting them head on. he came so close his spray from his outdrive sprayed a wave over my whole boat. i tried to chase him down but he got on it and i couldnt pull on him. stayed with him for a while but couldnt pull ahead.

I did see quite a few thugs out this weekend. My toys stayed on the trailer cause I didn't want to deal with the chaos.

that's exactly why i left the river the thursday before memorial
....i'm really sorry to hear about your incident though. losers are spending money again and this is going to become the norm on big weekends. i'm glad to hear you are safe...
there's an old saying that will surely ring true with the thugs you guys met.... "what goes around comes around". they might not realize it yet, but there's more to life than just ruthless driving and some hard knocks on the head
now let's all go enjoy a good, safe time on the water

For sure! Memorial weekend seems to be the biggest of them all, at least the craziest. Personally, i hear too many stories about friends getting hurt and everything so i stay away. Plus, there's nothing like an empty weekend on the river with smooth water and plenty of open space to run wide open

Man Hearing stories like this really pisses me off, I wish i would had a glimse of these A$$ holes. We have to do something about keeping idiots like this of our Lake. Regardless of big Holiday weekend or not this kinda Cr@p should not be happening or put up with. Its so sad for peeps like us that go up there to get away from the cr@p back home then have to deal with it were we get our peace of mind.
I'm glad your buddie is fine & no one got seriously hurt.

F*uck those guys, reasons like that I prefer to stay away on holidays. Probably the same aholes who leave their trash all over the beaches and get into bar fights at havasu.
They will get theirs
They will get theirs

That sucks. I've been going to havasu for memorial day for 4 years now and its always a chill place. Everyone seems to be nicer. Its really easy to make amigos. It sucks that a bunch of a$$holes have to ruin it.
