Wondering if it possible to drive up river in a 27' cat to Laughlin from Havasu. Has anybody done it in a IO or is this just for jet boats to do.

I would be wary to do it in your 27' cat. The river gets really shallow around Needles.

oh its extremely possible... my dad lives in bullhead and we take his 23ft boat that isnt a cat down into havasu alot... yours should sit on top of the water more than his big crownline... only shallow part really is needles... just make sure its in the afternoon when the water is up and pay attention to the shallow spots

I've done it before way back when, there were alot of shallow spots. We turned around in laughlin, started getting too many water roaches.

I've done it a few times in the past in my old Dana 22' I.O. Its dueable but risky, its does get very shallow & rocky in some areas, you need to be very carefull Oh yeah and lots of current.

Sounds like not worth trying. Maybe I should get a small aluminum boat and check it out first.

Yeah that sounds like a better idea. I'm sure yur prop is pretty expensive. u could rent a small boat with the cost of a new prop, LOL well if u do it let us know.

Well I made it. On sat. the 10th. Started at Laughlin, went down river to Pirate Cove. It was a piece of cake. Very nice ride.

It is easy. I have rode from Laughlin to lake Havasu and back a few times. Its fine as long as you do it this time of year while the water is high. Do not try it real early or real late in the year when river is lower.
