Thursday August 5-Sunday we will be charging out to the river for my lil bros 21st bday. Our boat is current on the fritz so we are going to rent a pontoon boat from Pirate Cove. Anyone ever done this before?

friend of mine just rented two days in a row... one day he said he got the "bigger" of there pontoons and the next day opted for the "smaller" one (i dont know what he meant by that) but he said the smaller one was lucky to do 5 mph up river... took him two and a half hours to get from the basin of havasu back to topock!!!

I just cheked there site. You have a choice of a 20' w/ 50 hp, or a 24' w/ 90 hp. They claim 25-30 mph w/ the bigger one and say nothing about the smaller.
My brother has a 22' w/ 130 hp and from experience, he is lucky to see 25 mph w/ 4 people onboard. I don't think I would go out of the cove w/ only 50 hp. But that is me personally. Good luck w/ your boating. Let us know how the rentals work out.
