I'm looking into buying an older Diesel Truck to use strictly as a tow vehicle. I know that diesels are known for their longevity but how many miles is a lot for a 3/4-1 ton diesel?

Any recomendations on a year or any years I should stay away from? I'm thinking Ford or Chevy 99-05....

Also benefits of Dually or single axle?

Be very careful when buying an older diesle, I learned the hard way, 4K and 8 new injectors later.

I agree with the Ford 7.3. The only issue with that Ford is the Transmission. Have it checked and then have it checked. I know Banks had an electronic add that helped the shifting in turn making it last longer. What are you pulling? No need to get a dually if you don't have a 44' boat. It just makes it harder to drive around town without the boat.

haha 6.0 haters!!!

ya i would get a 7.3 before a 6.0 powerstroke if i were you, i learned the hard way, 2500$ later after repairs on mine...
but good news is, supposedly now its "bulletproof"!! which i hope it is... cause the 6.0 is a good running motor when its running

why not dodge? that cummins will run forever
